{"id":1089,"date":"2010-06-04T09:58:50","date_gmt":"2010-06-04T07:58:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jon-lund.com\/main\/?p=1089"},"modified":"2013-02-25T21:04:26","modified_gmt":"2013-02-25T20:04:26","slug":"youtube-brought-to-standstill-in-denmark","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jon-lund.com\/main\/youtube-brought-to-standstill-in-denmark\/","title":{"rendered":"Youtube brought to standstill in Denmark"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some two weeks ago, on May 17, 2010, Youtube <a href=\"http:\/\/youtube-global.blogspot.com\/2010\/05\/at-five-years-two-billion-views-per-day.html\">announced on their blog<\/a>, that it now &#8220;exceeds over two billion views a day&#8221; &#8211; a doubling in less than a year.<\/p>\n<p>Looking at figures for Denmark however, gives\u00a0 you quiet a different picture: Youtube has been brought to a near complete standstill. That&#8217;s one of the main findings in my latest report &#8220;Online video consumption in Denmark &#8211; Youtube, DR and JP.dk TV&#8221;. Here&#8217;s the key graph:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1090\" title=\"youtube growth march 09-10\" src=\"http:\/\/jon-lund.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/youtube-growth-march-09-10.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"598\" height=\"410\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jon-lund.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/youtube-growth-march-09-10.png 598w, https:\/\/jon-lund.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/youtube-growth-march-09-10-196x134.png 196w, https:\/\/jon-lund.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/youtube-growth-march-09-10-590x404.png 590w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 598px) 100vw, 598px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I also looked into to which extend youtube videos are actually viewed outside Youtube.com itself, embedded on thirdparty-sites. From what&#8217;s available of data, it looks like only 1\/2 a per cent of views are conducted on social media networking sites facebook.com, myspace.com, Hi5.com and orkut.com. A group of sites which should be expected to be among the leading thirdparty-distribution channels.<\/p>\n<p>As for the Danish market, I did find Youtube to be as clear a market leader as anywhere else on the globe, more than 30 times larger than the largest Danish TV broadcaster, the Danish Broadcasting Corporation DR (a station which live-streams its channels on the Internet as well as through cable, satelite etc.).<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h2>Download  full report<\/h2>\n<p>Send, download and print.
