It’s crazy and yet perfectly logical: One of the core constituting factors of humanity, the ability to love, is leaping forward thanks to the intervention of – machines.<\/p>\n
It just happened to me – or that is: to my cousin (and his just-wed wife). And yes: I’m talking about marriages that starts out as online dating.<\/p>\n
Anders (that’s my cousin) and Mette met 10 month ago at kristendating.dk – a Christian dating-portal. And this saturday I attended their weddingparty. (Which by now is fused into a 7ehimlen.com<\/a> (7ehimlen=”seventhsky”)).<\/p>\n Anders is Catholic, Mette is Indre missionsk-Lutheran. Lives in each their part of Denmark. Different educations, different jobs. They surely owe their mariage to the internet (they wouldn’t have met otherwise).<\/p>\n One other couple at the wedding party – a carpenter and a Lutheran priest – also they met at kristendating.dk. (They celebrated their one hundred and eigth days wedding-anniversary at the party).<\/p>\n This makes me think 1: Seems logical that particularly religious people are attracted to online dating: those guys are less into surface (and sex) – and more into substance (and feelings). They’re attracted to the idea of meeting people through enlightened search on profiles, and Q and A ping-pongs that can bring out the inner thoughts of the potential partner-to-be. As opposed to the go-to-a-party-and-meet-a-total-stranger-blindly-hoping-for-real-love.<\/p>\n This makes me think 2: what they’re doing is actually goin down historys lane, and bringing the late 1800s-letter-writting-culture back into existence.
