This afternoon the Danish equivalent to “Encyclopedia Britannica” – “The great Danish Encyclopedia” – launched online in a full 161.000 articles version. In the best of internet-spirit the site features full wikipedia-like user-involvement, opening up to the world trying to gather the wisdom of the crowd.<\/p>\n

In order not to jeopardize the authenticity of the work, an editorial control-system is adopted.\u00a0 In the top of the system an expert-body is set in place. In this way it resembles sites like mahalo.com (which I wrote about here<\/a> – btw: I had mahalo-ceo Jason Calacanis in Copenhagen to speak at a conference I moderated two weeks ago. Very intriguing project).<\/p>\n

A few checks shows that allready from the start the encyclopedia is doing fine with relatively updated articles on both Barack Obama and the Gaza strip. (However I didn’t manage to find out how to actually contribute – the edit\/comment\/write new article buttons seems to be missing by now – hope they get them up really soon!).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
