After months of criticism on the “Avistid” (“time for newspaper”) campaignsite by danish bloggers, the blogosphere now changes weapons, moving from fierce antagonism to humour. On the “Avistid” campaign site the Danish Newspapers Organisation has hired in top danish film directors, giving them free hands to create small, 7 minutes long, micro-movies about why and how newspapers is a good thing.

Blogtid launched
On the newly created “blogtid” (“Time for blogs”) site, the micro-movie weapon is turned against the newspapers with a twist of humour. How do you forward a paperbased newspaper article to a friend, the film seems to ask. Follow the link and go find the answer yourself.

Pros and cons of Avistid
As I’ve previously stated in postings such as “The finger plan (*****)“, I like the Avistid campaign for taking advantage of the vast broadband penetration and for exploiting the web as a distribution channel for rich – and independent, not-controlled – quality content. The reason for the attacking Avistid is, as I see it, firstly the somewhat paradoxial spending aprox. 7 mio. euros on boosting the image of newspapers instead of using the money on helping the newspaper grow healthy and rich online editions (which propable would help the newspapers a good deal more), secondly that the campaign site lacks all of the collaborative, open, blog/wiki/folksonomi whatever have you things, that counts on the cuttingedge of new media critisism.

More on Avistid by me:
(Previous posts on avistid: “The finger plan (*****)“, “Microfilms are cool and cuttingedge”, “First Microfilm arrived” and “Top danish directors in cutting-edge online-only campaign”)

Nice move!
