History is full of games made from films that doesn’t work. And there’s a reason for that. In several respects the nature of films and video games have an inherent clash of values. A clash that strong the marriage will never be really happy. So forget about it!
That was the message from Greg Roach, Hyperbole Studio, today at New Media Days in Copenhagen.
Istead Alternate Regular Games might be it. That is: games that are not games, but combinations of secret websites, a filmproduction, textmessages etc. that the user has to figure out how fit together. Meta-universes where the user does not enter one media production, but shuffles between different media-productions, making his own game in the physical world.
