News just reached me that Gemius are going to perform the audience measurement in Israel. A tender process has been going on for quite some time, and on Christmas day Gemius was eleted winner of the process (read more in this article from tradingmarkets.com).
This is particularly interesting to me, since Israel hereby joins Denmark in the club of non-eastern European countries to have chosen Gemius. Denmark did so a year ago – and have had the Gemius audience measurement up and running since the summer of 07.
I don’t know much about the specific solution, Gemius has offered the Israeli market (I’ll keep you posted when I learn more). It’s clear however, that in Israel – like in Denmark:
– the “official” audience measurement was conducted by TNS prior the tender process.
– Gemius won the tender in the face of TNS, Nielsen//Netratings and Comscore (the three established leading research companies)
– the new Gemius Audience measurement is based on both a sitecentric (tag-based) approach and a usercentric (panelbased) approach, allowing for the introduction of exact and reliable figures for the number of actual people visiting a given website while also offering rich demographics of the visitors of given web sites.
