A big thank you to Simon Emil Emmitzbøl for standing up to the smooth one-liner superficiality of host Clement Kjersgaard. So far he is the only person who has challenged the nothing-is-so-serious-it-cannot-be-used-as-a joke style of the fast-talking host. Clement’s grasp of showmanship is next to immaculate, but it is frustrating to see him exercise it at at the expense of a serious debate and exchange of ideas as was the case this morning at the New Media Forecast 2.
Dear Clement, just because you are both funny and intelligent doe not mean that you have to prove it 24 times a second. If it will help to relax a bit, I will write it here: Clement is both funny and intelligent.
What could possibly be more exciting than hearing five prominent Danish politicians visions and views on the future of Danish media? Practically anything else as it turned out. In all fairness it has to be said that the conditions were far from ideal. Being asked to comment on a number of different scenarios meant that the room (and time) for debate was very limited. Too often the anwers were of the “I think it’s a bit of scenario A and B. But I guess I hope it will turn out to be scenario C”-variety. Too bad.
What are our politiancians visions and hopes for Danish media in 2016 and what will they do to to make sure that it happens?
Those answers are still blowing in the wind, unfortunately, but we all know that the times are a-changing, with or without the modest visions of Danish politicians.
