Nyhedsavisen, the yet-to-come free newspaper owned by islandic Dagsbrun, found themselves in a serious PR-backlash last week, when Dagsbrun announced the need for other investors to realize the ambitious project. Last week the established newspapers – the JP/Politiken and Berlingske/mecom groups – also launched each their free newspapers (24timer and Dato) in an attemp to defend their positions. And neither of these two nor the other media of the “motherhouses” was particular keen to play that story down. On the contrary!
The stories could potentially be very damaging for Nyhedsavisen, who both has to keep up the spirit among the employees in a period of starting up the newspaper – and among the advertisers, the money of which Nyhedsavisen is absolutely dependant. And I imagine they’d been dying to air their opinions as they see them themselves. But – this far, they’d been a mediacompany without a media!
This is why, I guess, to have a voice of their own, Nyhedsavisen today pre-launched their web-sites avisen.dk as a personal blog of editor-in-chief David Trads. So far – some eight or nine hours after the first post was published – 7 comments are registred on the blog. It’ll be very interesting to see what kind of discussion it will elaborate into!
