If American Airlines paid Steve Jobs to get ideas… (CustomerMade liveblogging # 9)

  • Jon Lund

Imagine if Steve Jobs flew American Airlines, and American Airlines actually took advantaged of this, by asking him, and all other customers: while your in the air, please donate us some good ideas – and if they’re good, we’ll pay you. Surely Steve, and other customers, skilled in each their field, would be able to com up with someting good.

This American Airlines should do, according Teo Härén, founder and CEO, Interesting.org in his presentation.

Anyway this is what his site, interesting.org, is about: A network of people wanting to participate with their ideas to problems posed to companies. Intersting.org sorts the ideas and sends them on to the compagny with the problem in exchange for some money, which partly goes on to the idea-generaters. And during the past years Teo personally read and rated 30.000 ideas – 90 % were crab – 10 % brilliant.

This is cool, Teo says, because a major problem in todays business life is the lack of new ideas.

About Teo Härén and Interesting.org
The official conference presentation of Teo Härén, founder and CEO, Interesting.org reads: In 2005 Teo was nominated best speaker in Sweden. In 2003 he was elected entrepreneur of the year, and he has participated in carrying through numerous innovating ideas. Along with his brother, Teo has organized this inventiveness and idea forming knack on the website Interesting.org – the world’s first idea brokering network, where more than 10.000 people from all over the world contribute in solving problems issued by companies and organizations. Teo will talk about the basic idea of idea brokering – how do you tap into other peoples’ creativity and convert it to concrete ideas? In short: How do you outsource innovation to the customers?

Live blogging from CustomerMade
This post is brought to you live blogging (well, this particular paragraph was actually written in advance just yesterday evening) from the The CustomerMade conference – one day of focus on usergenerated content, products and services: about how “the market itself is taking over all phases of production, from concept development and design to finished product” as the official website reads. Arranged by O’Reilly Media and Innovation Lab in corporation with  Foreningen af Danske InternetMedier (my organisation) – the IAB Denmark, among others.
